Our Journey
The establishment of the VM Group is the latest chapter in the storied history of the organisation that first opened its doors in 1878 as Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS). Led by the Reverend G.W. Downer, the Rector of the Kingston Parish Church, a group of clergymen formed VMBS with a mission to, through the power of mutuality, empower economically marginalised Jamaicans to pool their resources to save and to acquire homes.
As the needs of the Members changed, the organisation expanded its product offerings beyond the traditional savings and mortgage loan products. Through the VM Financial Group and VM Innovations Limited, VM Group offers:

The VM Financial Group is part of the iconic VM Group and is the home of The VM Building Society, VM Investments Limited, VM Wealth Management Limited, VM Money Transfer Services Limited, VM Pensions Management Limited, VM Property Services Limited and VM Finance Limited. Carilend and British Caribbean Insurance Company are affiliate companies of the VM Financial Group.
VM Innovations Limited
VM Innovations was established in December 2020 as VM Group’s wholly owned Fintech and Proptech arm, with a mandate to identify innovative and pioneering opportunities for growth and to create new, game-changing business models.
The principal activity for VM Innovations is to purposefully seek and exploit strategically aligned growth opportunities.

At the VM Foundation, we positively transform the lives of Jamaicans globally through a dedicated team of volunteers and partners, igniting the spirit of selflessness.
